Information Assurance Specialist

Job Description

The information assurance specialist will serve as an information assurance subject matter expert in support to an Air Force Research Laboratory contract. The information assurance specialist will be an integral member of a joint Government and contractor team that operates in a very dynamic environment. The information assurance specialist’s duties will span providing certification and accreditation support, developing IA processes and policies, providing recommendations to close gaps resulting from passage of new laws and regulations, perform system scans to assess system risk and vulnerabilities, and support the software engineering process. Additionally, the information assurance specialist may be required to assist on other tasks as needed.

Essential Functions: 

  • - Serve as an information assurance subject matter expert in support to an Air Force Research
     
      Laboratory contract

  • - Provide certification and accreditation support

  • - Develop IA processes and policies

  • - Provide recommendations to close gaps resulting from passage of new laws and regulations

  • - Perform system scans to assess system risk and vulnerabilities

  • - Support the software engineering process

Required: 

  • - Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience in relevant Information System Security,
     
      Secure Software Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering

  • - Current Secret clearance or adjudication within the last 2 years

  • - Knowledge of IA and Cybersecurity policy

  • - Knowledge of physical security policy and protection of classified information

  • - Knowledge of and experience with technical writing

  • - Experience in DoD, and IC Information Assurance requirements and processes

  • - DoDI 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+, CISSP, CASP, or CSSLP) Certification

  • - Self-motivated and a self-starter

  • - Excellent team player

Desired: 

  • - Current TS/SCI clearance or adjudication within the last 2 years

  • - Experience mitigating IA issues when connecting disparate system at different classification
     
      levels

  • - Experience in Secure Software Systems Design

  • - Experience in secure software services and database security

  • - Experience in software development

  • - Demonstrated leadership experience
